Haven't you noticed how a husband gets easily irritated when he comes home after a long, tough day at the office or how a wife easily breaks into an outburst when she has had a tough day at home with the kids or the house work?

What happens is that after so much tension in the office, the husband releases his stress energy on his wife by getting angry, saying nasty things or even starting a heated argument with his wife. The same also goes for the wife – she releases her stress energy on her husband.

Stress exists when the adaptive capacity of the individual is overwhelmed by events. Acute stress disorder may manifest as restlessness, irritability, fatigue increased startle reaction, and a feeling of tension, inability to concentrate, sleep disturbances (insomnia, bad dreams), and somatic preoccupations often lead to self-medication, most commonly with alcohol or other central nervous system depressants. - Stuart J.
